A unique and remarkable place, a volcanic island in the heart of the Atlantic Ocean.
The soul of the island was forged by fire, ocean and the sacrifice of its people during centuries of extreme struggle against the elements.
This entire natural and human heritage converges today in a landscape where nature and the human race live in harmony.
The island is full of special places of immense beauty. These are places shaped by nature, like the volcanic landscape and gigantic cliffs. Also shaped by the farmers in their unbalanced struggle against the elements due to the scarcity of water but who yet managed to produce fruit from the parched lands. And of course the spectacular works of César Manrique who shaped the island with his fantastic artistic creations. He left in Lanzarote a cultural heritage unparalleled in this world with his proposal of art-nature/ nature-art.
In Lanzarote there are fourteen protected natural areas; amongst these are the extraordinary Timanfaya National Park and the largest marine reserve in Europe: Archipielago Chinijo. In these places exist species of animals and plants unique in the world.
And the light… the light of Lanzarote blending in amongst the palette of colours of the island, the black volcanoes, the white houses, the green crops and the sky so blue make the island a privileged and fantastic place truly worth visiting.
A unique Island.
